If your designung a new system, buy your lights first.

 

Its much harder to get lights that fit your tank rather than a tank to fit your lights :-)

Make sure LR are stable and when scaping keep away from glass so you can keep it clean :)

Never try and pick a big hermit crab up by it's shell.....they're not like snails and can come all the way out of their shell and get you!

Don't forget to change your phosphate remover. Test for phosphate regularly.

Dont go spending loads of cash on the latest craze... If your water params are not as they should be, there is usually a very good reason and may be simple to rectify.

 

Overfeeding being one of the major culprits. Buy a good quality flake/pellet. If your not sure, ask... Everyone has their own opinions, some good some not so. Its all down to choice and alot of trial and error.

 

Oh and dont rush, do regular water changes, test often (with a good quality and in date test kit).
